I carry as well. Many times it is my ruger lcp or a 1911. I also have a 9F but do not shoot it much. I prefer my other guns. I used to shoot IPSC but have not in a while. I would love to shoot 3 gun.
I even have a dog named Ruger. Edited by jaya - December/10/2011 at 2:34pm |

Well let see, I've got a 9mm, SW 375, Sig P220 45, 308 rifle, and couple 22 rifles. I do not currently carry as the county I currently live in makes it near impossible to get. Hopefully when I move I'll get a CCW. Had one for 7 years when I lived in Washington.

Yes, I love to shoot guns, love to hunt. About once a month a bunch of the guys get together after church and shoot a thousand or so skeet. No better way to spend an afternoon than shooting things/ blowing stuff up.

For those who don't like the weight of a 1911, but don't like the bulk of a Glock...try out a Taurus PT 140 Millenium Pro. My PT 140 is .40 cal and shoots like a dream. Ultra safe and reliable to boot. Its a subcompact with a 3.5 inch barrel, but accurate despite the short barrel. I love 1911's, but I don't like the weight. I hate Glocks...simply not a safe or reliable gun, IMO. I've shot many many many guns, but my favorite pistols are the PT 140, and the Browning Hi Power 9mm. I don't care for the 9mm round, but boy is that a fun pistol to shoot!!

I am a CHL holder also. My primary carry piece is a S&W M&P .45c
I also have a Hi-point 9mm for plinking around... (yes I know it's a junk gun) but for the price it can't be beat as a fun plinker..... I also have my Remington 12g shotgun for Ohio's Hunting season, although I didn't go this year... too busy with work.. :( I think my next purchase will be a Glock.... my little brother owns one and it sure is a nice pistol...

I have a small arsenal and a carry permit (20 years or so). My normal carry gun is my LCP. Small, lightweight and very accurate. I kept 14 out of 15 in head of a terrorist target at 15 feet. Good enough for me. My next pistol will either be a Ruger SR1911 or proabably a new Colt Mustang since Colt reintroduced them. I prefer to play with my shotguns. I have a small Ithaca 37 collection but my favorite is my Berretta DT-10. It's an excellent shooter and well worth the money. I enjoy sporting clays and when Shrine membership can be worked into my schedule I'll increase my trap shooting. BTW my wife also has her CCP and a LCP with a Crimson Trace laser. Not a family you want to mess with!

Can get my permit to carry as well, too lazy to do the application and running around, I owned a Glock 23 .40 cal. Also, a couple of shotguns which belonged to my Wife's Father who passed away but she kept to keep other family members from selling/stealing.

i kind of want the SR1911 looks like a fairly affordable & nice 1911, but I would like to check it out more first. I personally think ruger is making some pretty nice guns, I am a huge fan of their stuff. My wife was always anti-gun until I got a few now she wants to learn how to shoot ! Which is cool.
Only probelm is that she is not strong enough to cock back either of my 9's without struggling a bit and I think a revolver might have too hard of a squeeze and she might be scared of the lack of safety on it. I would like her to try a Ruger LCP but I heard that the can actually be painful to shoot. My buddy told me to try a Walther PPK or something similiar to see if she likes it.

The LCP, in my opinion, is not at all painful to shoot. I shoot light loads for practice and Cor-Bon defense ammo. High velocity and low bullet weight (95 gr.). I'm told that the LCP is a 10 round per year gun so it's not something I shoot often. My wife likes hers with the laser but seems to shoot better with my full frame Sig 9mm. I have a Ruger SP101 that was very painful to shoot. Before I knew much about handguns, I was running 158 gr. hollowpoints. After I switched to 110 gr. hollowpoints, it's much more pleasant to shoot.

The LCP can be painful to shoot if you shoot a lot of rounds through it. It is very small in size and most people can not get but 2 fingers on the grip. It is not a target practice gun but one for defensive carry. I do carry mine in my pocket most days. It is not the most acurate either due to the size and the "bump" in the top rail they call a sight. I did paint the bump florescent orange to be able to see it. It is not ment for shooting a long range either. Anything over 10 yds away you most likely should not be shooting at anyway unless they have a gun pointed at you. I can hit a 3 foot gong at 50 yds 4 out of 5 times with mine if I take my time. Not bad for a little gun.

Go ahead and laugh, but I carry a NAA mini in 22mag. I own lots of guns but 22 rifles are my passion. My current go to rifle is a CZ 455 American in 22 lr. That thing is a tack driver. I mean I can put a nail in a piece of plywood and hit the head of it most of the time at 50 yards. Just sold a Garand for $900, paid $500 for it 10 years ago. Got a Carcano (AKA Oswald rifle) that shoots just dandy, a mid 30's KKW trainer in 22 that the "Hitler children" used.

I have my CCW permit, but don't carry everywhere - my workplace forbids it and state laws forbid carry at schools (where my kids attend) so it's more of a hassle usually.
My primary, currently, is a Sig Sauer P6 (p225) (former German Police issue) in 9mm. It's a great firearm.

CCW here and I have enough gear to start a small scale war in my neighborhood. My favorite carry weapons are an Xd-45 and a Taurus Judge. I can easily conceal them and they work fine for me.
My wife an I both have shotguns and we enjoy trap/skeet shooting along with using the Judge to shoot some clays out of the air. Edited by Barnacle Bill - February/20/2012 at 10:20pm |

I have weapons ready to go within arms reach of me at all times, even in my house. The only places I don't carry are on Post, schools, colleges, churches, or bars that have the 51% sign. Going on post is a necessity for my job. I don't, but should start going back to church. I sometime sgo see my wife at her job at the local community college, and I mostly go to sports bars that don't have the 51% sign. And no, I don't carry if I've been drinking. All other times, I carry hot, ready to go. Never know when the need may arise and time is of the essence.

[/QUOTE] Hmmmm.........they must've removed the photos then as there is a lot of sympathy for these two athletes, who have committed NO crime whatsoever, but are being crucified by the media just for holding up some guns.
It's amazing how much backpeddling the media will do when they don't the support of the public.
........but the power of the people will overcome the censors.

Don't forget that Darcy did significant damage to a fellow athlete's face during a cowardly attack four years ago.
He was supposed to pay the other guy damages, but did the "manly" thing and declared himself bankrupt. I think the photos weren't removed from public sympathy but to save embarrassment for the Australian Swimming Association. I'm still fuming that this scumbag was picked to represent Australia. This is an area where we must agree to differ. The right to bear arms is deeply entrenched in your American culture. I was brought up in London where the culture was that only criminals carried arms; not even the police were armed and yet we didn't have a very high murder rate.
You Americans love your guns; I find the whole idea incomprehensible. JMTCW |

In this case, both these idiots are innocent. |

What would you do, let a criminal assault & maim you? ... I don't think so. You would defend yourself any way you could. ... Just some of us choose to be ready should it ever happen. Read these news clips for the past month. http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen.aspx News clips this year http://www.nrapublications.org/index.php/armed-citizen/ These are the clips anti-gun people don't want to be public. It happens everyday. ... I've pulled and pointed my weapon 3 times; ... my car has been shot at twice while I was driving (road rage); and I have been robbed at gun point (the assailant didn't know I had a gun in my hand, cocked, behind my back) ... he was just lucky that night ... Yes, TM saw my gun in the console of the car when we visited a Lodge in SC. Edited by edwmax - June/09/2012 at 6:11am |

I carry a Glock model 23 (.40 cal). I feel bad for the Aussies that they have been taught in their culture that firearms are a bad thing. Criminals don't follow the law, so basically any restrictions on their god given right to defend themselves Only empowers the criminals IMO. But, the cultures are different too. People get shot every day here, whereas I don't think that happens in Australia. They just use chainsaws instead over there . . . http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2138259/Neighbours-war-Bloody-chainsaw-battle-sees-mans-arm-severed--anothers-finger-chopped-SAMURAI-sword.html?ICO=most_read_module Where I live... People eat each others faces off because they get high on synthetic bath salts. I don't feel bad about owning my handguns, AK47, or AR15. |

Just Aussie media hype that if one even holds a gun, he must be a criminal. ... The media would do the same in the US, if it wasn't a known fact that guns are not illegal. |

NEWS sells.......but in order to game fame, one must USE the media to gain that fame.
I've come to understand US a little more because of my travels, but hey..........our crime rate is WAY lower than that of the US, therefore we don't need to adopt the same measures. Now, were I in the US..........YES........I need a gun. But back to the "do-gooders" of this World. They wouldn't suvive if they didn't use the media. Now, here's the hypocrisy of the whole story.
Shooting is an Olympic event, in clay target, small bore and target shooting.
Do we have double standards by our Olympic committee.?

My wife's aunt is very anti-gun. At dinner one night my brother-in-law and I were talking about going to a gun show the next day and she about went nuts asking us why we wanted to go. We told her we were looking to buy another firearm. She then said she did not believe in them. I asked here what she meant and wondered if she believed that they did not exist. She then said guns kill people. I said that they did not and pulled one out of my pocket and laid it on the table. I told her that I could leave it there forever and it would harm no one. She then said someone could pick it up and hurt someone with it. I then corrected her that it was not the gun that was at fault but the person that picked it up. The woman about freaked when she saw it. Funny thing is that my brother-in-law put one on the table as well and we thought she was going to go nuts. She even asked if they were loaded. We told her that they would be useless if they were not.

No not hype - it is mostly criminals in Australia that carry firearms. As I said in my earlier post we must agree to differ and respect each other's views in this matter, but I hope that your reaction to my post, which reflects my honestly held opinions, isn't indicative of your reactions when carrying a gun. BTW both of the boofheads shown holding the firearms have been guilty of criminal behaviour - one was responsible for a savage attack on a fellow athlete that required extensive facial reconstructive surgery, and the other was guilty of lying to the police about a road traffic incident. So I suppose maybe the Aussie press does have a point. Maybe the Aussie magistrates should have thrown both of them in the slammer and then they wouldn't have been allowed into the US to have their pictures taken in the first place and we wouldn't now be having this conversation. Look you have your honestly held opinions, and I have mine. Let's agree to differ because I know you won't change my opinion and I strongly suspect I won't change yours. But a the time and place of the photo, possession of the guns was not illegal. That is Media hype to infer these persons are criminal because they did hold the guns.
Possession of Firearms is not illegal in Australia, just tightly controlled. Thus making anyone possessing and using a firearm for otherwise lawful purpose a criminal if not licensed; while real Criminals don't care. ... To own an air rifle or paintball marker/gun requires a 28 day wait period and firearms license. ... ridicules ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Australia So all of this is about the 'Gun Control Australia' pr that anyone who owns or possess firearms is a criminal regardless of whether or not the firearms are legally own & licensed. ... Again this is media hype ... Mind control of the masses ...!!! Edited by edwmax - June/09/2012 at 10:28am |

I carried at one point, but it isn't legal in California. I had a very small shot to get a CCW when I worked for the sheriff's dept, but in most counties here, you can forget it. I also gave up all my guns when I got married and had kids. I do not trust my kids to not figure out how to get into a gun safe! They have gotten into more locked places than I can count.
I have to admit to getting the bug again though. |

That happens here too. The reason so many people have guns is because criminals have them and don't obey the law. It's illegal for a felon to be in possession of a firearm, but they still carry them. The part I don't understand about the Aussie situation is that instead of allowing the law abiding citizens to carry, they make it almost impossible for the lawful citizen to own one. Criminals already don't follow the law. Why would you give them the advantage by letting them know that they can run around and commit crimes with almost no fear of being killed in retaliation?

It is clear that I will not change your minds and you will not change mine.
I am reminded of Albert Einstein's famous quote, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". I don't mind being accused of being insane, but never boring! Please take care and don't shoot yourselves in the foot. |
