Completely separate from Blue Lodge and appendant degrees of Freemasonry, simpleman.
They are an organisation based  closely on the principles of Freemasonry, but have men and women in their org.

It does say that "it's open to Men and Women with Masonic affiliations", therefore I would be of the presumption.......should you want to join, then you'd be eligible.

Some history of Amaranth can be found here.  http://www.amaranth.org/NewHistory.asp  It is a social oganization of Master Masons and their female relitives similar to OES.   The OES is more ritualistic while the Amaranth is more social with Grand Parties and Royal Court theme.

Long story short, for MS lodges OES is to Rainbow what Amaranth is to Job's Daughters.

This makes no sense.

OES is an Order of Master Masons & wives, daughters, mothers, widows, & sisters; Amaranth is the same.  Amaranth simply changes the titles in the order to Royal Matron Royal, Patron, Sir Knoght & Lady.

Jobs Daughters & Rainbow are youth orders, the differance being Jobs Daughters must have Masonic tie, fathers, grandfather, uncle, by blood or adoption.  In Rainbow young ladies are sponcered by Masons, OES, White Shrine, & Amaranth, they do not have to be related to a Master Mason.

In Washington State, we have at least 2 Rainbow Assemblies sponsored by OES chapters.  None are sponsored by Amaranth to my knowledge, although every mason I know that is in Amaranth up here has/had either a daughter in Jobies, or his wife was one.  Seems there is very little "co-mingling" up here, as (at least in the Court that meets in our building)  has very few members that also belong to the OES.

Now having said that, I am not a member of either group so my view is skewed.

as a past grand royal matron told me and the other 3 new members when we joined that the amaranth "is the 32nd degree of the eastern star" her words, and at 80 years old i will not argue with her. but it is true the amaranth was designed to be the 3rd degree of "adoptive masonry" with the oes 1st queen of the south 2nd (no longer MS but practiced by PH) and the amaranth 3rd

The OES is not subordinate to the Amaranth; neither is the  Amaranth subordinate to the OES.  They are two distinctly separate organizations.    ... The description that Amaranth was 32nd degree (or equalant) of the OES is simply rivalry talk.

At one point, was it not a requirement that one must be an OES member forst before they joined Amaranth? Also, wasn't it part of a proposed Adoptive Rite of Masonry?

Do you have any reference links to this?   ... I have read that OES was originally intended to be the 1st of a three degree system, but apparently this didn't develop.    The 2nd & 3rd were to be Queen of the South and the Order of the Amaranth.   ... Although I have not see this was intended by Rob Morris (???).

Thanks, I'll check out your links.

I just found this one: http://www.paulrich.net/publications/heredom_02.html   Apparently, the addition of the Queen of the South and the Order of the Amaranth was by  Robert Macoy with approval of Rob Morris. However, the OES & Amaranth didn't get along and separated later under Mainstream Masonry.

Now under the PHA Masonry, the OES & Amaranth continued as one co-joined system.  (???)

Now this raises an additional question since Amaranth may have originated in Sweden and rewrote for American use by James Taylor; if European connects to OES exist.

the amarannth masonic degree has NO connection with the "Royal order of the Amarantha" notice spelling. the creator of the former was inspired by the later.

Hello,

Is Amaranth as Biblically based as OES? Just curious.

Thanks!
