Hello Brothers.  I have a question.  How should I properly greet any brother (or sister, who may or may not be displaying light)?  I'm a mailman and I have plenty of brothers and sisters on my route (so I deliver a lot of masonic and OES communication).  I would like to just greet and keep it moving, as I'm still on the clock; if we evolve into masonic discussion it would have to be brief but I would consider that a bonus; What I'm concerned about is that brother or sister who would try to challenge me while I'm on the route; at that point I'd feel negative about the entire situation.  Any thoughts are helpful and well appreciated.

Jacksonville, Fla....I was stationed there for 3 years. Love that place.

back to your question...a subtle gesture or word will always catch a masons attention. You know what to say.

If you expect to engage in some "secret" convo, expect to be challenged. Some will anyways. Shouldn't feel negative. You must be able to identify who is who.

I would simply say,"How are doing brother or sister?" and keep it moving.  They might ask where you hail from, but usually not much more.  If they want to go further and you don't have the time, you can apologize and say you have to keep moving because of your job.  If they continue to challenge you after that you can say,"respectfully bro or sis, I'm off, I have to finish my job."  Any decent bro or sis shouldn't keep pressing you if you are speaking to them in passing.

I am with the simple gtreeting of "How are you Bro./Sis.?". If they want to talk about the craft on some real stuff then possibly exchange info. (email address, etc.) and take it from there.

Being a Mail Mail, if I were you I would give him 3 honks with the horn and I'm sure he'll get the picture.

Sometimes I say "Do you know Bro. B..."  If they are not a MM, they say I don't think so.  If they are a MM, they usually come back with a yes and I know Bro. J.....!!!  A little head nod, smile, and keep on moving!!!

I would introduce myself as Bro AB and tell them it's always nice to meet/greet another brother.
