I noticed that many people abbreviate words here.  It would be helpful for me,
if anyone could post some common abbreviations that they know in reply to
this post.  Here are the easy ones I figured out.

SR Scottish Rite
YR York Rite
PH Prince Hall
MM Master Mason
EA Entered Apprentice

What does A.F. and A.M. stand for? I believe it means the type of masonic organization your in, and identifies what lodges will recognize you?

Thanks,

Jim

Then you must not be a Freemason, or you would be able to to read those.    A F & A M is Ancient Free & Accepted Mason.   These could easily be looked up with Google.
"Until you realize that your viewpoint is incomplete and that's '_' viewpoint is complete, only then can you become teachable in the Mysteries of '_'."

Sorry, no I am not a Freemason.  I am only getting my petition filled out currently.  I just was asking for some common abbreviations to help me read posts that I have access too.  I tried google, and it didn't come up with an easy to find definition.

Thanks for telling me.

Jim

Try this link as I know it has the meaning of "AF&AM".

Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
32° Farenheit is certainly not higher than 3° Cel.

Jim,

A lot of the visitors to these forums are not Masons. Personally, I'm glad to see that you are interested.

For anyone new to Masonry, I would recommend A Pilgrim's Path
by John J. Robinson.  It is an excellent introduction to Freemasonry, in my opinion.

Feel free to ask as they come up. If we can answer we will Sometimes we may say that a particular cypher cannot be divulged in an open forum.

But it never hurts to ask.
