Stuntman98,
First of all thanks for serving. As a veteran of OIF/OEF I know how bad Kuwait sucks. I was raised to MM on 3/21/11 so I have not had the opportunity to sit in any chairs yet, but I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to. Good luck, stay safe, and God bless. By the way, what branch are you in?

LOL No.

My brother always says I give bad directions and I honestly see it again

But what I meant was the Junior Deacon seat.

I guess you can deduce what I was trying to say now that Im not trying to make it so cryptic. LOL

Keep landing on the floor as an ad-hoc SS, but left to my own devices I'm in the cheap seats behind and to the left of the JW.

Our Lodge, the JS & SS sit to the Right & Left of the JW. It's a small Lodge in a building from the late 1800's so space is very limited Smile

Interesting!
Our seating is:
SD and SS are on the right and the left of the WM (SS sits next to the Working Tools and is responsible for them).
JD and JS are on the right and the left of the SW.
JW is on the south, and the only chair close to him is the DofC, sitting few steps on his right. On the north side - the only officer's chair is the Chaplain's.
This is the seating in all Temples I've visited in Toronto (Toronto West - where we meet, York, Weston, Mississauga...).

Very interesting.

In our lodge, in the East, you of course have the WM.  To his right the IPM, and to his left the DD (or GM or DGM if present).  The SD is on the level in the NE angle.

In the South, the JW, flanked by the SS and JS.  In the West, the SW, with the JD to his immediate right, and the IG to his far right, and the DoC to his left.  Chaplain in the North (organist behind him, but that's just where our organ is -- in our other lodge room it's in the NW)..  Secretary and Treasurer in the SE.

Having said that, there is a great deal of flexibility in some of the seating arrangements, and they will be dependent on the layout of individual lodge rooms.  As long as those who have specified stations in the opening of the lodge are respected, there's no right or wrong place.

Brethren,

Last evening I was invested with the collar and jewel of Junior Warden and placed in my seat in the South.

Feels a lot different than sitting to the right of the WM as SD.

Congradulations daves, enjoy your time as JW. I thought it was one of the better positions , in our lodge the JW gets to be in charge of and organise the south , is this true for you?

Up to a point - we have a very good Secretary and he does a lot of the organising. Also our Lodge Festive Boards tend to be self-catered - everyone brings in a plate, a light supper rather than a three course dinner. Last night it was a catered meal which the Secretary arranged. There are a number of caterers in the Perth area who specialise in catering for Masonic functions.

Next month it will be back to sandwiches, pies and sausage rolls!

DaveS: Congratulations on your advancement to the JW chair.  That is the chair that I am in, also.  Our "masonic year" runs from Dec. 27 to Dec. 27 (Saint John's Day), so I will be advancing to the SW chair in just a few short months.  Time sure does fly!  Again, congrats and all the best to you.  S&F Bro. It would seem to me that instead of posting where the physical location of our seat is, it would be better to post the position with it, i.e. JW, SW, WM etc. As I was raised on Tuesday and it's now Thursday I sit with the craftsmen.
