Tonight is our Festive board, where I'll be installed as I.G, so by next meet I'll be inside the door of the porch. I was contemplated for it last year, but I didn't have my 3rd yet, so I'll be becoming an officer for the 1st time this year, and am quite excited!Big smile

Well done.
The IG is a very responsible position and in our Lodges, here in Oz,, has a lot to do.
Hope it all goes well.

Cheers Bro.! It was a nice night indeed, with plenty of Bushmills afterwards. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the year.

I.G.- is that the Inner Guard? We don't have that here in Florida. I'd love to see how that works along with the other position we don't have like alms bearer, master of ceromonies, etc.

In our constitution the Inner Guard sits inside the door of the Lodge and admits visitors and candidates. He is answerable to the Junior Warden. This position is a very important one and is usually given to a new Master Mason as he has a good view of all that is going on in the Lodge. His next step up the ladder is usually Junior Deacon.

In PA, we do not have an inner guard either.  We do have an officer who is called the "pursuivant."  It is his duty to tyle the lodge and inform the tyler that the lodge is open.  He also escorts  visitors into the lodge, like when the DDGM comes to make a formal visit or brethren who may arrive after the lodge has been open.

It's wild how other lodges are laid out. In the AF&AM of Pennsylvania In the East are Master, Sec, Treas, Chap, in the south is the lonely Junior W. In the west is the SW, Junior Deacon, Senior master of ceremonies, Pursivant and Junior Master of Ceremonies. And the Master does all the work.

LOL! Not for a while, but if things stay as is, or the world doesn't end this year, then 2017 would be my year in the East.

BL- WM, SW, JW, SD, JD, SS, JS
Capter- HighPriest, King, Scribe, Capitan of the Host, Principle Sojourner, Royal Arch Captain , Master of 3rd veil, 2nd Veil, 1st Veil

So basically I'm not even the JS yet if we were to compare the two. Which is fine for me. One guy is the Illustrious Master this year, WM and HP next year, and Em. Commander the year after. I don't think I or my better half would like that type of schedule!!!

Your Royal Arch titles are different from us: ours go First Principal, Second Principal, Third Principal, Scribe Ezra, Scribe Nehemiah, First Sojourner, Second Sojourner and Third Sojourner. Our Guardians of the Veils only apply in our Excellent Master Degree. I'm currently Third Sojourner, but will be invested as First Sojourner at our Installation next month.

In four weeks, I'll be moving up to Senior Deacon. In my Jurisdiction, it goes Inside Sentinel, Junior and Senior Stewards, Junior and senior Deacons, (the rest are elected positions) Junior and Senior warden, and Master.

Our Ritualist calls the SD chair the one that separates the men from the boys. I have a whole lot of work to do!

If elected, I'll also be the Secretary/Treasurer of the 12th district Lodge Of Instruction. This nowhere near as much work as the Lodge Secretary as I only have to report attendance and it's all on a web page at Grand Lodge. The treasurer part is collecting the fees from the lodges, so I only have to deal with nine bills.

The SD installation is a week from today and I did get elected, some say sentenced, to the Secretary/Treasurer's job for LOI. That installation is on the 25th of June.

I hope to be Secretary next year,I am now Asst.Secretary.
I am looking forward to this but it will be a high learning curve as I am not a Past Master.
I have several Secretary's in my District that will give me a helping hand so I will be fine

To the NE Corner for me! Slowly getting in where I fit in!

That would be SD or Treasurer in my lodge. Which are you?

Senior Deacon, and perhaps moving up to Junior Warden when we have our next installation.

Pehaps I may have misled you a bit, as I am newly raised. I was referring to being fresh in the lodge and without much experience yet I'm just now taking responsibility in the craft. I have since begun filling in as JD at the last meetings and in a couple of degrees. I'm excited to get more involved!

Bellboy, are you the installed JD or just feeling in when needed? Just curious.

As for now, I'm filling in when needed. Which seems more often than not at this point. The WM seems as though he may have plans for me to be installed at some point, but I would merely be guessing.

Ummm, from your question marks I guess you're confused??

"I stand at the moment."--- I stand elected(figure of speech)
WM Elect=Worshipful Master Elect
"Are there any other suggestions?...Please?"---At the annual meeting when a name is suggested for an elected office, the Master then asks, "Are there any other suggestion?" three times.  I jokingly put that in my response in rememberance of that moment to make light of it and add levity to my response.

Your series of question marks indicate confusion, but since there was no specific reference as to what you were confused about, I have explained each element of the response.

I've been asked to sit as Secretary this coming year, mainly because I've been pting it for the past few months since our regular Secretary has been recovering from shoulder surgery and unable to write.
