A friend sent this to me. Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday. .. and the month is already over. .. and the year is almost over. .. and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed. .. and we realize that we lost our parents, friends. .. and we realize it's too late to go back. So.. Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time. Let's keep looking for activities that we like. Let's put some color in our grey. Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts. And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters.. I'm doing it after. I'll say after. I'll think about it after. We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours. Because what we don't understand is that: Afterwards, the coffee gets cold. afterwards, priorities change. Afterwards, the charm is broken. Afterwards, health passes. Afterwards, the kids grow up. Afterwards parents get old. Afterwards, promises are forgotten. Afterwards, the day becomes the night. Afterwards, life ends. And then it's often too late. So. Let's leave nothing for later. Because still waiting to see later, we can lose the best moments, the best experiences, best friends, the best family. The day is today. The moment is now. We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away." It Looks Like An Eternity, But It's A Short Trip, Enjoy Life And Always Be Kind. |

I don't know where you find some of the things you post, but I truly appreciate you posting them and thank you for posting them. As some of you may know, my father, who has been a Mason for over 60 years, was recently moved into a personal care home at age 97. He told me that he realizes that he can no longer live on his own. Two things he has said to me that are hard to imagine are: "I never thought I would be like this" (referring to his inability to do some things) and "All my friends are dead." Both of those statements are really hard to imagine that happening. On a brighter note, I see his face really light up whenever I walk into his room for a visit.

This one came from an OES sister who posted it on facebook.
I have only two people in my family older than me now, a cousin whom I consider our family matriarch and she is 97yrs, I dread the day I go to our annual reunion and she is not there. Then my sister. Beyond that there are only six chapter members who were at my initiation 46 years ago Jan 19, 1976. At that time we had over six hundred members, now that is a lot of lost friends. Of the six of us who came in together I am the only one left. I miss so many of these people I sometimes feel so very alone. |
