I need some refresher training. Years ago, on this or another forum there was a discussion of "Red Lodges." As best as I can I recall, I remember reading that "Red Lodges" were several lodges in Louisiana that conferred the first three degrees of Freemasonry and were under the authority of Scottish Rite. Yesterday at our open house I was in a discussion with a fairly new Mason about why blue lodges were called "Blue." I also happened to mention the few Red Lodges and what I knew (or thought I knew) about them. One of the old timers who is also knowledgeable about Freemasonry had never heard of them and seemed skeptical of my explanation.

Anyone here that can give more background on them?

It was this forum. Being an AASR mason myself; I was curious, so I googled it. http://forum.mastermason.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=7456

No problem brother. I learned from it too. I have read the first three scottish rite degrees in Pike's Morals and dogma, but i was completely unaware that any lodges still used the scottish rite craft degrees ritual.
