I'm going York Rite after the first of the year.

I live in Northern VA but am a DC Freemason (fell into my mother Lodge through friends, and DC and VA have a concurrent jurisdiction treaty for certain zip codes in Northern VA).

One Brother is trying to convince me to go into a chapter in VA, but my concern is that if I do that, once I get to the Cryptic Council degrees, I won't be recognized when I travel, since in VA it's one body.  His potential solution to that is to affiliate with a DC Council once I get to those degrees.

I'm not looking to be in multiple chapters, just one....   what would you do in my case?

I live in MD and have heard of VA Masons joining a Council in DC for that reason.
